On December 9, 2014, the SCWBA hosted its annual Holiday party at the Trio in Holbrook. The cocktail party was a departure from our usual sit down dinner, but the Holiday Party Committee determined that in this season of giving it would be more meaningful to our members to have a casual get together at a lower price, in order to ensure more charitable giving to the charities we chose to support. We are proud to report that we raised $540 for the Rollstone Foundation, a charity that gives grants to assist families who adopt children with special needs.
In addition, we raised $295 in grocery gift cards for the Hero Hunger Health Project administered by the Northport American Legion Post 694, which raises funds for needy veterans. Finally, our members donated several teddy bears for the Islip court house day care center, which were well received.
The intrepid members who braved the wind and rain on December 9 had a wonderful time at Trio. The restaurant is on the grounds of the Holbrook Country Club in Holbrook. The restaurant provided a large room where we relaxed and mingled as we enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks. The party closed at 7:30 allowing everyone the chance to get home at a reasonable time or get some holiday shopping done at the Smithaven Mall.
Thank you to all who attended and made our Holiday party a success for the charities supported.
